Having grown up in intense environments all my life, I’ve since been in a constant state of hyper-awareness and anxiety which had my nervous system working overtime. But as I began spending more time with pottery, it forced me to slow down and simply exist in the present.

I hadn’t realised just how dysregulated my nervous system was.

My every breath, thought and heightened senses that were once overwhelmingly exhausting, was simply consumed by the body of clay in front of me, taking in all my worries, heavy hearts, and thoughts.

For me, Pottery isn’t just a means of creation – but a reminder to breathe, a place of escape, a place of solitude.

Here, its just me and myself. A quiet mind and subtle conversations between the body and I. While pottery can be frustrating at times, Clay is never punishing.

It allows for a space to forgive oneself, and teaches one not to be too hard on themselves.
